I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember. What started as a childhood love for drawing and painting eventually became something much more personal—a way to express myself, capture the world around me, and tell stories that words sometimes can’t.

I’m Justin Dolan, a Houston-based artist working primarily in painting, drawing, and commissioned artwork. My artistic journey began at a young age and eventually led me to study at the Western Art Academy and the Maryland Institute College of Art. Along the way, my early work received Scholastic Art & Writing Awards recognition, was displayed at Texas Children’s Hospital, and was auctioned at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

My path hasn’t always been a straight line. Working in design and construction gave me a different perspective on creativity, teaching me how art can transform a space and how meaningful it can be to collaborate with someone to bring an idea to life. Those experiences continue to influence the way I approach my work today, especially when creating something personal for a client.

I’m endlessly inspired by the American West, the beauty of the human figure, the landscapes around us, and the little moments that often go unnoticed. Sometimes my work is detailed and intentional; other times it’s loose, expressive, and guided more by feeling than anything else. I love exploring that balance between what we see and what we feel.

Above all, I want my art to create a connection. Whether it’s a painting that reminds you of somewhere you’ve been, someone you love, or simply a feeling you can’t quite explain, I believe the most meaningful pieces are the ones that stay with you.
